Bruce Kneeland, community pharmacist: Hi, I’m Bruce Kneeland. I’m a community pharmacy consultant based in Prescott, AZ. I will soon be heading out west to meet some outstanding pharmacists, who are blazing trails in the independent space. In a series of interviews in the coming weeks that will be featured on TotalPharmacy.com, you’ll learn more about some of the innovative programs and ideas that independent pharmacists are using to carve out a niche for themselves in the competitive healthcare landscape in the hopes that they can inspire others to try something new.
This includes expanding immunization opportunities, medication therapy management, medication synchronization, point of care testing, and more. I’ll be starting in Phoenix and driving north following the general path of US highway 89, often called “America’s Most Scenic Highway." It runs for nearly 2 thousand miles and goes through several major national parks including Zions, Yellowstone, and Glacier.
I’ll be visiting with a cross-section of pharmacy types, including an inner-city pharmacy, a female-owned pharmacy, a 20-unit grocery store with a pharmacy chain, a new pharmacy that’s achieving remarkable success, and a tele-pharmacy that’s located in an extremely rural area.
Check Totalpharmacy.com frequently for updates and to make sure you’re on the cutting edge of independent pharmacy.
